Frequently Asked Questions
Where do the supplies go?
Develop Africa ships the supplies to schools in the countries in which we work, currently: Sierra Leone, Cameroun, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and The Gambia. We have established relationships with various schools in these countries and will continue to develop relationships with more schools. By sending donations to schools that we know, we aim to ensure that the donations are getting to the right hands and will benefit students as intended.
Do I need to send money for shipping?
Please donate $50 or more for each average size box of books that you send. This will help cover the cost of shipping from our Tennessee office to Africa.
Can I get a tax credit for my donation? Can you send me a tax credit receipt?
Develop Africa is a registered not-for-profit organization and any donations you make are tax deductible. We will be happy to send you a tax credit receipt if you email us with the request.
I would like to donate other items besides school supplies (e.g. toys, sports equipment). Will you accept those?
We sincerely appreciate your interest in helping the less privileged in Africa. We are always in need of educational items and school supplies. We do receive other requests from prospective beneficiaries throughout the year, so the types of donations that we need at any given time reflects these requests. Please contact us first to let us know what you would like to send.
